Operation Julie (Part 1 of 4) - Plas Llysyn
In a new episode of ‘True Crime Investigators UK’, we tell you the story of ‘Operation Julie’ which was a UK police investigation into LSD production by two drug rings during the mid-1970s and resulted in the break-up of one of the largest LSD manufacturing operations in the world.
In this four part series, we’ll be interviewing one of the undercover officers involved in the operation; Stephen Bentley and discuss the twists, turns and dangers of the investigation. As well as the people he had to get close to. We’ll also be talking about wider issues within undercover policing.
In this first episode, we explain the reasons ‘Operation Julie’ began and the surveillance Stephen undertook at Plas Llysyn in Carno, Wales.
Researched, produced and presented by John & Sally.

Hi Helen, please accept my apologies for the very late reply. We were new to and I have had difficulty with accessing ’my comments’ but we are here now. I see you have been listening to Operation Julie and also to Jason and The Tony Spencer Story and The Pottery Cottage case. We really appreciate your comment about the respect we show on the Podcast. To be honest we wouldn’t do it any other way, we are telling other peoples stories and we should be respectful. We have had very positive and some times emotional feedback from those who have trusted us with their stories. You are probably aware if you follow us on social media that we also do live talks and the feedback from our audiences, some of which were directly involved in the case we talk about, has been very positive. So once again thank you for listening we are currently working on our next couple of series, we’ll be travelling to North London, South Wales and Cheshire in the next few weeks to interview parties involved in two very compelling cases. So keep ’em peeled!!

Really enjoying the podcast. Easy listening and very thoughtfully presented. I particularly like how respectful you both are towards families of those victims of crime. Thank you.
